They watched as dark eyes slowly glowed red. Heads turned to face them. A hand rose in the air before.
"Restricted access. Your presence is unauthorized."
"We meant no intrusion." Sarge raised his hands in a non-threatening gesture. "We are merely explorers who believe this to be ancient ruins."
"And just what do you seek here?" The other mechanical asked in the same voice, precise and clear.
We seek knowledge and friendship."
"Strange request from humans."
"We are humanoid." Sarge went on. "But we were referred to as Elarians."
"Elarians." The first mechanical repeated evenly. "That name is known to us."
