Description
A while ago there was a protest against a flood migration plan due to the concern of a number of flaws that had been found in the plan. Residents of the area were concerned as the found flaws could mean that the changes being put in to fix the flooding might not fix the issue - and had the potential to make it worse. Additionally, the plan seemed to be requiring the chopping down hundreds of trees, many that were there for a very long time. And many of the trees being chopped down, it was unclear why they even needed to be removed as they were far away from the construction site.
A petition also circulated and even today the number of signers have increased. They wanted the government to pause on the project until it could be reviewed and necessary adjustments made so the flooding would for sure be solved while trying to reduce the amount of damage to the environment. Also, the residents wanted plans in place for emergency in case flooding happened in the area.
As far as I know, so far, all requests have been ignored or denied.
I am very grateful I've taken pictures of the area many times over the years as now that is all that is left of them. Many of the beautiful trees I've seen in the area have now been chopped down and more are going to be removed. It's sad to see.
