Description
Isla headed to meet Scorpio, bursting with excitement about finding their first new member to join their ranks.
V possibly wasn't quite sure what to do after Isla found her amongst the rubble of her home, she must have wondered what was wrong with the hyperactive Isla as she plucked her from the rubble and cast her over her shoulder to take her away from a land collapsing into ruin to carry her away to safety and a new home.
We don't know quite why Virika let Isla carry her, either she didn't know quite what to make of the euphoric Isla carrying her through the scorched remains of her homeland with Isla continually talking about everything and anything in that hypnotic voice she cast when she was excited. Maybe Virika was just so bemused that she didn't attempt to escape, though it is entirely possible that we just underestimate how determined Isla can be when she finds something or someone that she truly wants? Either way we we're pretty sure Virika was more than a little astounded as Isla carried her through a doorway and into a hallway, through an all but ceaseless number of doors and out into a vast garden.
Isla carried her through a garden and then into a deep path lined with trees towering as the sun teased the ground with blades of light falling through lush leaves, the sun gently kissing their faces as Isla pressed on undeterred. We are sure she asked V if she was okay, but I guess Virika was too confused about what was going on to truly reply, or maybe Isla was to excited to worry too much, after all, it wasn't like her cargo had attempted to escape or resist being carried to her new home?
Little did Virika know that hidden in the center of the forest which Isla was carrying her into, Scorpio was waiting for Isla to return, having been dispatched at Scorpio's request to seek and find another member to join and bolster their ranks. Soon after taking the helm from us, Scorpio had moved their home into the depths of a vast forest, similar of nature to the forest which Isla called home, hoping to find a place in their own world where they could call home, living away from the constraints of the outside world together. We admired them in truth, their courage to find their own way beyond what we had known, was quite befitting and we all knew, the future was theirs to behold.
Scorpio caught sight of Isla walking through the passages beneath the trees, slithers of light catching her pure white hair as she walked hurriedly with an enchanted glisten in her eyes, her voice muffled by her own intoxicated excitement as she called to Scorpio "I found someone!" almost squealing as her voice was saturated by her excitement. Scorpio stood still watching as Isla rushed towards her with her hostage attempting to look where exactly she was being carried too, maybe Scorpio was just as confused as Virika? Either was she stood bemused as Isla rushed towards her, hyperventilating in delight as she turned and showed Scorpio her first finding in the unexplored rooms of the house we once called home.
Scorpio looked upon Virika as Isla held her firmly in place, cast over her shoulder, raising a single eyebrow to Isla as she asked "What is this?" her voice echoing a deep pride from the desert in her stern tone as Isla's cheeks bulged and she blurted "She's a dystopia!" her eyes agog as Scorpio looked at Virika hanging in place, frozen nervously watching Scorpio's rest her large blade upon her shoulder as she quizzed Isla in confusion "What's a dystopia?" Isla spun and looked at Scorpio, giggling as she turned and offered V closer and beamed "That's what she is!" Scorpio glanced round Isla looking at her growingly nervous captive and then looking at Isla with uncertainty as she asked "What's her name?"
Isla fell sheepishly quiet as Scorpio waited for her to reply "Isla?" Scorpio raised her eyebrow as Isla stood pensively and silently, avoiding eye contact with Scorpio as she sighed disconcertedly "You don't know do you?" Isla shook her head slowly as Scorpio stepped to Isla's side and leaned to look Virika in the eye and ask "Do you want to be one of us?" her stern and stoic voice echoing as Isla fell silent. Virika looked at Scorpio and her blades before pensively nodding, Scorpio squinted "Are you certain?" Isla looked over her shoulder at Virika, her cheeks softer but her eyes glowing as Virika thought and smiled gently at Scorpio "Yes".
Scorpio looked at Isla grinning proudly as she asked "What is your name?" Isla looked away shyly as her cargo replied softly "Virika" gently smiling as Scorpio grinned and nodded. she raised her small dagger and held it out to Virika and declared "Virika, you are one of us now!" Isla stood perfectly still as Scorpio knelt down and smiled gently "We will help you and I will protect you from anything or one that wishes to harm you" Scorpio held out her dagger and gently ran the blade along the side of Virika's scalp "Anything or anyone" her stern voice and unwavering eyes confirming the valor of her words.
Isla was brimming with excitement as Scorpio looked at her and nodded "Bring her with you" she cast her eyes to the heart of the forest "We are going home" she paused and looked back through the forest paths and to the home that had once been ours "Tomorrow is different to today, we will make this our way" Isla giggled and asked "And Virika?" Scorpio rolled her eyes and smirked "She is here to stay" Isla grinned wildly as Scorpio began to walk into the depths of the forest, side by side stepping towards a future of their own making, free from what had once been to cast in blood and stone what would come to be.

A very touching and beautifully told chapter. I really liked the contrast between Isla’s joyful energy and Scorpio’s calm strength, and how Virika’s arrival becomes the beginning of something entirely new. There is a lovely sense of belonging and new beginnings throughout the text, and your image carries that feeling wonderfully.
Thank you, I'm glad that it feels that way because that is exactly what is happening, that time has come and while I hate the idea of it, equally I want it to be exactly how this comes to be too. This is a quite open and honest changing of the guard and one I find hard to truly think about but the prospect of doing nothing feels much worse. If you like I have come to realise that the best way to create wonderful and cherished memories is to move forward knowing that everything has served it's purpose while laying the foundations for what comes next.
