Made me laugh but reminded me of a story I heard years ago about a fisherman on a UK canal. He thought he'd hooked a big fish but when he pulled it out, it was a round shaped block.
The next day, the canal was empty. It turns out that canal engineers put drain plugs in at various points for maintenance purposes but, over the years, they had all been forgotten about.
Not sure if the fisherman story is true but there really are plugs in various sections of canals. :-)
Very funny story, but I doubt it :) Emptying the canal would mean emptying the whole Atlantic.
Most canals are well above sea level. :-)
Oh, I thought the story was about the canal between UK and France. My mistake :)
Really funny. It also happened to a lake in the US when someone drilled looking for oil into an abandoned salt mine, and the lake emptied into the mine, stranding fishing boats and the drilling rig on the lake bed.
Shouldn't let just anyone use heavy machinery :)
