Description
Another work inspired by an old record. The record from which this takes its name was released 20 years ago by one of my favourite musicians (whom most people have never heard of!), the Tunisian oud player, singer, and musical sufi, Dhafer Youssef. A mesmerising performer and one who straddles the boundaries bertween western and eastern music, spirituality and virtuoso jazz with consummate ease. I was lucky enough to see him live a couple of years ago in his band featuring the avant garde guitarist Eivind Aarset (another persnoal favourite) and it was a memorable experience...

Those superb images remind me of my stay in Jordan...in Amman, I used to spend my evenings in a nice café where musicians where playing the oud. It was captivating.
