Description
~Legacy of Atlantis~
After years of fear and rumors, Crystal Dynamics (CD) has finally released some info about the new upcoming Lara Croft. Until 2019–2023, Crystal Dynamics was still actively claiming she would be totally deconstructed: no more guns, no more tomb raiding - her complete opposite. I was expecting the worst.
Fans revolted – petitions, memes, and sheer exhaustion forced CD to double down on classic Lara. The backslash was such that CD finally realized this was pointless, and decided to start over with a new team, completely scrapping their "Reboot" game. With a corporate panic, Square Enix (CD’s owner) wanted "Legacy of Atlantis" to be a blockbuster, not another backslash and cancellation.
And now, the new 2026 "Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis" has been finally revealed. It's a 30 years anniversary remake of the original 1996 game in full modern graphics glory. When the demo video started playing, I was eating my fingers! What will be of Miss Croft?
I must admit, I was shocked by what I saw. Lara was... beautiful. Her face (shown here) reminded me more of the sequels than the original, but everything was there - the original outfit, the ponytail, the tight shorts, the dual pistols, the signature big lips, and even the original backpack.
As the demo video played, I examined her facial design. She now has attractive and genuinely feminine traces, to include a more delicate nose and a small chin. Her body now has feminine curves and medium breasts (no more flat chest from the animated series). They even show a leotard, which was always present in all games, but for the first time, Lara gets a sexy high-leg edition.
However, I noticed something shocking - Lara looks... older. For the first time, Lara has aged and now appears to be on her mid 30s. In the sequels, they made her younger, and in the remake of the original, they make her... older. Say what you will, but I have mixed feelings about this, like the writers are either naive, or don't understand what aging means to a woman. Men and women don't age the same. Younger Lara had something to prove, and it should be done by now. But if Lara is now approaching her 40s and is till doing the same thing, it may mean that something went terribly wrong with her life, and it sucks to be her. CD is playing a dangerous game. Let's see how they will justify this.

Beautiful work!
Thank you! This 30th anniversary remake of the original 1996 game is promising a Lara revival for the newer generations/ ^^
Sounds like good news to me!
Looking forward to the new sequel, as long as they don't turn Lara into a man dressed up as a girl with excess lipstick :-)
I have to respect Crystal Dynamics for having the courage to fire the entire blue hair team, scrap 4 years of development on the "TR: Reboot" game, and start over from scratch, now with a Lara we can recognize. She even performs the same acrobatics from the 1996 game! What it looks like was their parent company, Square Enix, pulling the carpet after the backslash and put CD back on track. 😁
I was wondering, because originally I had her with brown or even dark-red hair in mind. (depending on the screen resolution
)
Beautiful work!
Thank you! I think MANY fans are relieved to see Lara back on track. All the 4 years CD spent on "TR: Reboot" was thrown in the trash bin and they started over from scratch. We only have a teaser trailer but look at the new Lara - that one I can recognize! ^___^
We could REALLY use a new Lara Croft game right now. (With 21st century graphics.)
Well, "Legacy of Atlantis" is only coming somewhere next year, and the next one in 2027. I am just happy Lara is back to being herself. Strong fans backslash has forced CD to trash 4 years of "TR: Reboot" development, and start over from scratch. So far, I like what I see. Just not sure I want to see an older Lara. She has been 24 for 30 years, and there is a reason for that.
Wow, this is great news to hear as I remember playing the original game late into the early morning many times back in 1996. You made her look so good here. Lara Croft was the first time they ever had a female character be such an awesome character, that I think it paved the way for the rest of PC female characters to come after her. She was many kids first love for sure! lol
Keep up the great job you are doing in providing us with such beautiful eye candy...happy holidays to you my friend! :-)
Thank you! I have high hopes for this new Crystal Dynamics direction, now that we know for a fact that they 100% dropped the woke Lara deconstruction straight into the trash bin. That was 4 whole years of wasted time and effort and looks like the entire team was fired. "Legacy of Atlantis" has a whole new team, and looking at the recent demo, it came back to track with a Lara we all know and love. Just not sure I love seeing her this much older, though. Just like Bart Simpson has been 8 years old for decades, Lara should never age. 🙂
Looks very like the Tom Raider good work
Thank you! This is the face the new Lara got after "TR: Reboot" went straight to the trash bin, and I like it. The new team working on "Legacy of Atlantis" really knows what a woman looks like, and that's a good start! If you look at the trailer, that's a Lara I recognize! ^____^
Lara is looking fantastic here - she is gorgeous! And it looks like she's ready for more adventures. Back in the day, I got this poor girl killed so many times, she won't even speak to me now! 😉
Thank you! This is the new face and body the new team made for Lara. No more manly face with a square jaw, no more flat chest, and no more manly body. Her redesigned face is delicate and feminine, and her new body has female curves. I can finally start making Lara fanart again, for this one I recognize. ^___^
Super cool !
Thank you! This upcoming remake of the very first game might become the entry point for a whole new generation to the Lara Croft fandom.
