Description
Three weeks before Centauri 1 reached its destination, the Chinese mission had already scouted the Alpha Centauri system, found a planet of interest, Proxima b, and promptly dispatched an exploration team.
They found no forests or fauna, nor had they anticipated any, but what they found was a treasure trove of rare metals and minerals.
China’s strategy had paid off well. Rather than joining the frenzied space rush, they invested in unraveling the deeper mysteries of FTL physics. Their patience yielded a breakthrough: a second quantum level of hyperspeed, where a precise, narrow peak of efficiency rendered FTL travel not just more practical, but transformative.
A new race for the stars had begun.

Nothing like some good competition to fast track tech....but we will win the race....I see it in the movies all the time so it must be true, right...lol
Sweet narrative for this creation and Proxima b looks like it has enough room for one of my supply depots or mining operations :)
Oh nooo! What happened? I thought we would win this race for sure! Waaaaaaa:(
Oh well, we can't expect to win everything every-time -- besides, there will be plenty of other prizes to grab;-)
And feel free to set up your own mining operation, just beware of high radiation at this place.
Sometimes being first isn't the best thing. - Bob
True indeed!
::coughing:: great atmosphere... a little dusty out there
LOL. I hope you didn't take off your helmet ... if so, you need to get to the med-bay immediately!
Well........ With all the funding cuts to all our progressive organizations, what did they expect? 🤔
Your artwork however is outstanding, with this scene from the (hopefully) not to distant future, good sir! Looking into the sky, we're not too far behind!
I thought for sure that by 2001 we'd have flying cars and paradise ... but it slowly got worse. Perhaps AI will finally be able to save us ... unless it kills us;-)
I must quickly relate this new found Chinese capability to my team of scientists back on Earth so that they can make all necessary schedule adjustments to maintain interplanetary dominance at all costs.
I should have known to view this image first as I have already committed my scientific team based on their new found technology that will deliver FTL technology 64 times faster on your previous image. I believe this new capability will change the story forever Max.
I propose to let the Chinese exploratory team keep Proxima b, and any rare metals they may find. and we assemble a team that can travel on a craft with an FTL-64 Engine capable of traveling at a speed 64 times faster than anything else made in this world.
Now there is a small level of risk on this first maiden flight but then again every first flight carries risk, but just think of it Max! This first mission can go where no man has gone before! Why does that phrase sound so familiar? lol
A great idea, Johnny, and your predictions seem to be quite good, as my sources just informed me of certain interesting developments in the FTL department. And I wouldn't worry about Proxima b --- it's but a puny drop in the vast ocean of resources out there for the taking.
No need to be mad at you because you took a break. Sometimes it's necessary before to jump into more madness of the stories :) Always the same rushing in the space races, no matter the period of time lol But always the same question too: where the good persons to explore taken, or will they bring more trouble than necessary? Time will tell.
What a landscape... fantastic work!
