Description
The Commander broke from his position and moved to the front of the bridge and pointed to the distant vessel in the distance.
"Thats sufficient reason to violate the Neutral Zone. They have already violated the treaty and committed acts of war against three freighters and a starship. What more provocation do you need?"
The Captain rose slowly to his feet and stared sternly at the Commander.
"Stand down, Mister." His voice was harsh and direct. "Or I will relieve you of your Duties.!" He drew a deep breath, glancing about at the anxious faces of his crew. "I understand." His voice softened a bit. "We need further confirmation before entering the Neutral Zone, which would bring about an intergalactic war. Add to that, I am not in command of this task force; so that decision is not mine to make. We wait."
"Confirmation?" The Commander shook his head slowly and pointed to the small vessel in the distance."
"Beyond range for any accurate sensor readings." The Captain interjected. "And barely within visual range."
"Look." The Commander insisted. "The Silhouette confirms what the vessel is. That's a Roman Bird of Prey."
"Appears to be, but not confirmed." The Captain sighed softly. "Commander, Stand down."
The Commander dropped his arms slowly to his side and sighed deeply.
"Aye, Sir." He reluctantly stepped from the front of the bridge and returned to his station.
"We wait." The Captain settled back down wearily into his chair. "We follow orders."
