Description
____ Back to my previous Swiss holidays, here is now a gem of an alpine lake and glacial cirque, located near the small town of Kandersteg, in the Bernese Alps, in Switzerland. At an elevation of 1,578 metres (5,177 ft), it is fed through a series of mountain creeks and drains underground. The lake is generally frozen during five months, from December to May. From time to time ice skating is possible on the ice.Since 2007 the lake is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Heritage Site.
____ Like many Swiss landmarks in line with environmental projects or simply with conservation, access to the site is impossible and forbidden to cars, only hikers or travellers using the cable car are allowed to enjoy the majesty of the place, and then see the site on a rowing boat or take a walk and hike along trails that connect this glacial cirque to the next valley, that of Lauterbrunnen at the feet of the three Swiss alpine giants, the Jungfrau, the Eiger and the Mönch, all of them higher than 4,000 meters high.
____Thank you so much for your nice appreciation on my previous seasonal photo, have a nice forthcoming weekend and take good care, while zooming in for more details ...

This would be a tremendous photo for a wall hanging art in a fine living room. Wow! What a glorious capture from your beautiful country. Live that small body of water and rock cliffs super shot!! 5+++
Superb landscape,very interesting capture,,!!
Such a beautiful spot...the water is an amazing color! I always am grateful when I learn that governments protect their natural resources/environment, unlike here in the US since you-know-who came on the scene...makes me despair.
Stunning! So beautiful. Well done.
Wow! That is gorgeous!
Elles sont superbes ces falaises !
wow!
I've never been there, but the mountains look great.
Chapeau bas l'artiste !👏👏👏
Exellent done.
Wondeful place and capture!
A beautiful site and gorgeous photo! So wonderful to know it is protected from most of the hazards of today's touristy traps! We need more preserves on this planet and perhaps some day, we can turn the tide away from our destructiveness. Fingers crossed!
nice vista!
Very beautiful and very nice!
A wonderful capture of this rugged mountain!
Wow, what a magnificent Rock Face. Mother Natures sculpting is so far beyond that of man. Her work takes millions of years and is ever changing. To think that you captured a nano second in that process is pretty amazing. Really great of you to share with us. Bravo !!!
beau paysage ça donne envie de quitter mes champs
Spectacular capture! Lovely work!
I'm obviously vacationing in the wrong places, this is amazing, I need to go here. Beautiful photo.
That's a magnifcent view
Beautiful!
Beautiful photo my friend.
such a beautiful mountain scape and capture
