I was very excited when Rachel emailed to tell me that she wanted a new cover for the first book of the Black Dog series. I've had the honor of working on two other books in the series and Rachel is an amazing author to work with. We're also on schedule for another book in the same series.
So I guess I should introduce the book, huh?

I think she is in serious trouble!
The very first things that captured my attention when I saw this cover were the red, glowing eyes. They're almost the very focus of the entire render; they immediately tell you something exciting -- if not something terrible -- is going to happen. Probably to the girl in the foreground.
Wonder what I'd do in her shoes. Perhaps I'd try talking to the creature first, just to see if I might elicit a positive response. ;)
